Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines — Jurnal Al-Hikmah: Jurnal Dakwah

  1. Articles submitted to Al-Hikmah must contain new findings that respond to contemporary issues and discourse, comprising conceptual/theoretical work and research results related to da'wah from various perspectives.
  2. Articles may be written in Indonesian, Arabic, or English, following standard scholarly language conventions.
  3. Articles must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, on A4 HVS paper, with a maximum length of 16 pages.
  4. Articles must be accompanied by the author's Curriculum Vitae (CV), submitted as one printed copy along with a soft copy, or sent by email to: elhajournal@gmail.com or jurnalhikmah@iainptk.ac.id.
  5. Articles must be submitted no later than 2 months before the relevant edition is published. The submission deadline for the June edition is the end of April, and for the December edition, the end of October.
  6. The author's name must be listed below the article title, without academic degrees, positions, or titles, and must include a correspondence address, email address, and phone/mobile number.
  7. The author's CV must include: identity and academic information — name, correspondence address, email address, phone/mobile number, name and address of the author's home institution (and university, if currently studying) — a list of scholarly works produced in the last 3 years, and a list of scholarly activities attended in the last 3 years.

Structure for Conceptual/Theoretical Articles

  1. Title: maximum 25 words; avoid unnecessary words (e.g., "analysis," "case study," "influence," "factors," etc.).
  2. Author's name: without academic degree, position, or title.
  3. Author identity: email, name of university currently attended (if a student), and home institution.
  4. Abstract: maximum 200 words, containing all indexable keywords, written in 2 languages (Indonesian and English/Arabic).
  5. Keywords: 3 words representing the substance of the article.
  6. Opening section: Introduction, containing background, objectives, and scope of the study, consisting of 2–3 paragraphs.
  7. Main discussion: may be divided into several sections; all section and subsection headings must be bolded and must not use numbering.
  8. Closing section: Conclusion.

Structure for Research Articles

  1. Title: maximum 25 words; avoid unnecessary words (e.g., "analysis," "case study," "influence," "factors," etc.).
  2. Author's name: without academic degree, position, or title.
  3. Author identity: email, name of university currently attended (if a student), and home institution.
  4. Abstract: maximum 200 words, containing the objective, method, and results of the research, containing all indexable keywords, written in 2 languages (Indonesian and English/Arabic).
  5. Keywords: 3 words representing the substance of the article.
  6. Opening section: Introduction, containing background, literature review, research objectives, and research methodology.
  7. Main discussion: research results, which may be divided into several sections; all section and subsection headings must be bolded and must not use numbering.
  8. Closing section: Conclusion.

Additional Requirements

  1. Bibliography/References: must only include sources cited within the article.
  2. Preferred reference sources are primary sources, such as thesis/dissertation research reports or research articles in scholarly journals and magazines, prioritizing publications from the last 5 years, and including the most recent publications (within the last year) wherever possible.
  3. For articles written in English, the abstract must also be provided in Arabic and Indonesian; for articles written in Arabic, the abstract must also be provided in English and Indonesian; and for articles written in Indonesian, the abstract must also be provided in English and Arabic.
  4. Qur'anic verses cited in the article must be accompanied by their translation and must include the name of the surah and the verse number.
  5. Hadith citations must be written in full, including the original text, translation, and source.
  6. Articles that meet the requirements will be selected and edited by the editorial team to standardize format and writing style without altering the content or substance.
  7. Citations within the article must use the footnote technique, for example:

  1. The bibliography must be written clearly and arranged alphabetically, for example:
  • Book with an author's name: Arkoun, Mohammad, Islam al-Akhlaq wa Siyasah, Beirut: Markaz al-Inma' al-Qawmi, Mc Millan and the Free Press, 1967.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Pengajuan artikel harus belum dipublikasikan sebelumnya.
  2. File pengajuan ber-extensi Microsoft Word
  3. Artikel ditulis dengan huruf times new roman
  4. font 12 dan 1,5 (satu setengah) spasi di atas kertas HVS A4
  5. Sistematikanya meliputi: judul, nama penulis, abstrak dan kata kunci, pendahuluan, pembahasan, penutup, dan daftar pustaka
  6. Kutipan sumber ditulis dalam footnotes (catatan kaki)
  7. Naskah diserahkan atau dikirim dalam bentuk soft copy dan print out-nya
